Manufacturing Engineering Manager - Orbital Welding
nVent is a leading global provider of electrical connection and protection solutions. The Manufacturing Engineering Manager will lead sophisticated stainless steel orbital tube welding and fabrication for liquid cooling solutions, driving process optimization and team development.
Responsibilities
Lead and Develop Talent: Build and mentor a team of manufacturing engineers and technicians, encouraging collaboration, technical excellence, and adaptability
Own Stainless Tube Fabrication: Provide hands-on guidance for orbital welding processes, fixture design, and sanitary tube fabrication, including welding fittings and ports for liquid cooling products
Drive Process Innovation: Implement standard methodologies for orbital welding, tube cleaning, passivation, and electropolishing. Champion continuous improvement using tools like RCCM, Gage Repeatability & Reliability (Gage R&R), and Process Capability Index (Cpk) studies
Strategic Project Leadership: Lead complex engineering projects with significant financial impact, including capital expenditure planning and execution
Automation & Efficiency: Lead factory automation initiatives and ensure smooth integration of new processes into production
Safety & Quality: Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with quality standards throughout development and production
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's (B.S.) degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science/Metallurgical Engineering, Welding Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field
Progressive engineering experience in a manufacturing environment, including deep knowledge of manufacturing processes (e.g., welding, forming, testing) and new product introduction processes (e.g., FMEA, Lean). 10+ years is ideal
Hands-on experience with orbital welding and stainless-steel tube fabrication
Previous people management experience, including an ability to lead technical teams and projects in multi-functional environments
Ability to navigate ambiguity, develop teams, and achieve results in a fast-paced environment
Preferred
Knowledge of tube cleaning, passivation, electropolish, and/or laser welding is a nice-to-have
Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) credentials or willingness to acquire certification a plus
