AmeriCorps is seeking a Gear & Bike Technician to support Basecamp's operations. This role involves inspecting, repairing, and maintaining bikes and other gear while also teaching basic maintenance skills to participants and collaborating with staff and volunteers.

Responsibilities

Build and maintain Basecamp’s bike service workflow
Perform routine inspections, tune-ups, and repairs on all gear and fleet bikes
Keep accurate service logs, manage parts inventory, and recommend cost-effective replacements/upgrades
Support programs with fit checks, safety inspections, pre-ride/river briefings, and on-site troubleshooting
Teach short, beginner-friendly workshops (e.g., “fix-a-flat,” “pre-ride safety check,” “how to dry and store a tent,” “PFD fit 101”); create one-page take-home guides
Track usage/repair patterns and share insights that improve program scheduling, fleet spec, and replacement planning
Assist with gear transport, event staging, and post-event turnaround
Support pre-program logistics and post-program debriefs/data entry
Collaborate with staff/volunteers to align monthly program calendars, vehicles, and permits
