The Group Manager will oversee an internal team specializing in structural engineering, manage projects, and maintain client relationships while ensuring technical training and safety protocols are followed.

Responsibilities
Provides expertise in complex engineering computations involving conventional engineering practices
Responsible for engineering projects of varying size and complexity in field or office in accordance with plans and specifications
Oversees the use of computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare engineering and design documents
Is active in technical societies
Publishes engineering papers and/or articles
Serves as a senior project manager or senior project engineer on complex projects and as a designated client contact
Assists the Regional Manager in Business Development efforts
Supervises and monitors client relationships strategies
Successfully develops and maintains meaningful relationships with clients
Is available to attend meetings or events outside of normal working hours
Supervises select group of employees and support staff
Manages the staff and is responsible for technical training, career development and performance of all assigned staff
Serves as a coach for engineering and technical staff
Responsible for identifying, recruiting and retaining qualified technical personnel
Actively observes and acts in an appropriate manner related to safety
Ensures that staff needing specialized training in health and safety procedures and practices receives such training and that safety is discussed as an important aspect of their work
Follows established communication processes and systems to ensure effective communication with staff, clients and corporate office

Qualification
Required
Highly motivated and experienced in structural design
Management and oversight of an internal team specializing in engineering
Extensive and diversified knowledge of principles and practices in engineering
High level of ethical and professional conduct in technical and managerial activities
Expertise in complex engineering computations involving conventional engineering practices
Responsible for engineering projects of varying size and complexity
Oversight of computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment
Active participation in technical societies
Publication of engineering papers and/or articles
Experience as a senior project manager or senior project engineer on complex projects
Designated client contact experience
Assistance in Business Development efforts
Supervision and monitoring of client relationship strategies
Development and maintenance of meaningful relationships with clients
Availability to attend meetings or events outside of normal working hours
Supervision of select group of employees and support staff
Management of staff including technical training, career development, and performance
Coaching for engineering and technical staff
