ASSISTANT PRODUCTION SHOP PLANNER (MACHINIST)
The PSNS and IMF is seeking an Assistant Production Shop Planner (Machinist) to serve in Shop 31 of the Production Resources Department. This role involves using measurement inspection tools, performing work assignments independently, and overseeing lower-graded personnel during heavy workloads.

Responsibilities
You will be proficient in the use of various types of measurement inspection tooling such as micrometers, electronic measuring machines and all types of gages and templates
You will perform work assignments independently using shop safety practices, drawings, technical work documents and/or other technical guidance
You will maintain knowledge of the capabilities and restrictions of all metal working machines and use this knowledge in the shop routing process
You will oversee, monitor and instruct lower-graded or lesser skilled personnel as assigned by the supervisor to assist during heavy workloads
You will plan and arrange for proper and safe operation, ensuring that materials, tools, and methods used are safe as well as proper for the work being accomplished
You will check completed work and quality assurance documents to ensure that they meet specifications, standards and quality requirements
You will apply geometry and trigonometry in the solution of complex mathematical problems related to the trade
Qualification
Required
Must be a US Citizen
Must be determined suitable for federal employment
Must participate in the direct deposit pay program

This is a bargaining unit position
You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty
You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift
Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present
This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites
Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the job elements
This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job
