ENVIRONMENTAL ENFORCEMENT TECHNICIAN, LEAD (CLASS CODE 3089)

NEOGOV is seeking a Lead Environmental Enforcement Technician for the Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans. This role involves advanced skilled work in enforcing environmental and water pollution control laws, conducting inspections, monitoring, and public education related to stormwater and wastewater management.

Responsibilities

Lead level and advanced skilled work in the enforcement of environmental or water pollution control laws and other environmental requirements mandated by state and federal agencies including the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality (LDEQ, etc.)
Conducting a range of enforcement activities related to the Stormwater, Backflow Prevention and Pretreatment sections and implementing programs and policy
Information collection, inspection, monitoring, sampling, and public education; and related work as requested

Required

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Engineering or related field
Five (5) years of full-time experience in the field of water treatment, wastewater treatment or environmental compliance inspector of storm water/wastewater discharges and/or backflow prevention compliance with a municipality, parish/county or other recognized jurisdiction, including private water or waste water operating companies
Current Class Two (II) Wastewater Collection or Water Distribution Certification issued by the Louisiana Department of Health
Current Class Two (II) Wastewater Treatment or Water Treatment Certification issued by the Louisiana Department of Health
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Engineering or related field; and permanent status and two (2) years full-time experience as an Environmental Enforcement Technician II
OR Associate's Degree from an accredited college or university in Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Engineering or related field, and three (3) full-time experience as an Environmental Enforcement Technician II
Current Class Two (II) Wastewater Collection or Water Distribution Certification issued by the Louisiana Department of Health
Current Class Two (II) Wastewater Treatment or Water Treatment Certification issued by the Louisiana Department of Health
Water Supply Specialists and Backflow Assembly Tester Certifications
