HVAC Mechanical Engineer
Salas O’Brien is an employee-owned engineering and professional services firm focused on achieving impact for their clients. They are currently seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer for HVAC design, plumbing, and fire protection projects, which includes responsibilities like performing load calculations, developing design drawings, and project management.

Responsibilities
Perform heating and cooling load calculations with industry-standard load sizing software tools
Conduct field surveys to document existing conditions
Select and size HVAC and controls equipment
Develop HVAC sequences of operation
Prepare design drawings, specifications, and construction document packages
Develop project cost estimates
Perform computer-aided design (CAD)
Coordinate with equipment vendors for product selections, cutsheets, and quotes
Review contractor submittals, shop drawings, and as-builts
Conduct punch list and construction administration site surveys
Support other engineering tasks as needed
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from accredited program
3-7 years of relevant design experience in HVAC projects
Proficiency in AutoCAD
Working knowledge of NYC/NYS building, mechanical, and plumbing codes
Ability to work independently with supervision and collaboratively in team environment
Interpersonal and communication skills
Time and project management skills
Preferred
New York State Licensed Professional Engineer
