They are seeking a Principal Software Infrastructure Engineer to design, manage, and maintain a compute environment for AI/ML applications and high performance computing tasks related to weather prediction.

Responsibilities

Designs and Builds the Engine: You are the one who architects and implements the HPC cluster, the cloud environment, and the large-scale storage solutions

Automates Everything: Your mindset is rooted in Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) and automation

Owns Reliability and Performance: You have the DNA of a Site Reliability Engineering (SRE)

Required

Experience in setting up, managing, and maintaining a compute environment for AI/ML applications and traditional distributed, high performance computing tasks

Strong focus on operational and infrastructure engineering

Experience in architecting and implementing HPC clusters, cloud environments, and large-scale storage solutions

Proficiency in Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) and automation

Experience in creating scalable provisioning systems and building CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure

Strong understanding of uptime, performance bottlenecks, and monitoring

Deep understanding of computer science concepts, including data structures and algorithms

Good programming skills, primarily in Python and C++, with strong knowledge of Linux/UNIX and shell scripting

Experience from a scientific or engineering background

Genuine engagement or interest in Earth science predictions

Hands-on Individual Contributor mentality

Comfortable in an environment defined by direct, frank, honest communication
