Business/Litigation Legal Assistant/Secretary (Jackson office)
Watkins & Eager PLLC is a law firm seeking a Business/Litigation Legal Assistant/Secretary to support their operations. The role involves managing deadlines, communicating with clients and legal parties, and preparing legal documentation while ensuring confidentiality and professionalism.

Responsibilities
Calculating, calendaring, and monitoring deadlines
Greeting and communicating with clients, opposing counsel, court reporters, court administrators, and other parties
Scheduling and maintaining calendars
Organizing and monitoring numerous ongoing and one-time activities, events and projects
Logically solving problems with little supervision
Preparing initial drafts of pleadings, letters, and other documentation
Assisting with the collection, cataloging, numbering, and transmission of records through electronic systems (i.e., Outlook, ShareFile, etc.)
Scanning, copying, and preparing records for discovery, including redaction and bates labeling
Typing and transcription
Electronic filing in court and other systems, including the ability to access and work within state, federal, and administrative tribunal electronic records systems (e.g., PACER, MEC, Mississippi PSC system)
Invoicing and communicating with clients concerning billing
Organizing and maintaining files
Qualification
Required
Confident, energetic, punctual, organized, disciplined and hard-working
Ability to work under time constraints
Ability to act as a liaison between the client, the attorney, opposing counsel and other related parties
Ability to communicate effectively while maintaining professionalism
Maintaining confidentiality with respect to all client matters
Requires 5 years of direct experience as a legal secretary and/or paralegal or 10 years of equivalent work experience
Preferred
Applicants must have a wide range of administrative and organizational skills as well as practical legal skills
Excellent communication skills in person, on the phone, and in writing
Strong writing and editing skills
Excellent attention to detail
Initiative and judgment in problem solving
Ability to work independently and efficiently and handle multiple assignments with fast-paced and short deadlines
Discretion in handling and communicating sensitive information
Typing/Transcription
Electronic filing at all levels of the court and administrative agency systems
Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, ShareFile, and PDF (Nuance, Adobe, etc.) software
Willingness to work under pressure in a dynamic environment
A positive attitude and willingness to do whatever it takes to get the job done
