Responsibilities

Develop and optimize product designs and drafting using CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor, Creo) while ensuring compliance with industry standards and safety regulations
Design precision tooling and machine mechanisms for automation from conception through implementation phase of a project
Conduct FEA simulations, hands-on prototyping, tolerance stacking evaluation, and engineering production trials to validate design performance and trouble shoot issues prior to entering high-speed manufacturing
Collaborate with manufacturing, engineering, drafting, tool & die machine shops, and cross-functional teams to meet project requirements and improve existing products
Apply engineering principles, materials science, and manufacturing engineering processes to create cost-effective and efficient designs to specific timelines
Maintain a high level of technical documentation and detailed 2D drafting, analyze data, and communicate findings effectively to stakeholders

Required

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Electrical, Chemical, or Civil Engineering
Minimum 5 years of experience in design engineering or product development
Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Inventor, Creo) and simulation tools (DEFORM), and a strong understanding of ASME Y14.5 GD&T drafting
Strong understanding of engineering principles, machine design automation, mechanics of materials, tolerance stacking, precision tool & die design, metal forming, and manufacturing engineering processes
Ability to perform a high-level of critical thinking and technical problem-solving analysis, feasibility studies, engineering trials, detailed engineering price estimates, and calculated risk assessments
Must possess a valid US driver's license
This position requires successful vetting as an Employee Possessor in accordance with U.S. Department of Justice and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives
This position requires access to ITAR controlled technical data, and as such, employment will be contingent upon the candidate's ability to access ITAR controlled technical data pursuant to an export license approved by the Directorate of Defense Trade Controls, if required
This position requires successful vetting for unescorted access in accordance with U.S. Army and Department of Defense access policies
The US Government does not allow non-US citizens on-site at the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant. Therefore, to be considered in the hiring process, the candidate must be a US citizen
Degree must be from a school that is accredited by an accrediting agency recognized by the Secretary of Education of the U.S. Department of Education or equivalent program from an international university

Preferred

Certification in Y14.5 is preferred
Understanding of transfer press machinery and form tooling is preferred
