Adjunct Instructor Positions – Lifelong Learning and Adult Education Program
Penn State University is seeking part-time adjunct instructors for its Lifelong Learning and Adult Education Program within the Department of Learning and Performance Systems. Responsibilities
Teach graduate-level (master’s) courses and one undergraduate course focused on writing and speech communication for adult learners
Courses may include topics such as adult learning theory and practice, health care education for adult learners, distance education and instructional design, and educational research and assessment in adult education
Qualification
Required
Doctorate (Ph.D. or D.Ed.) in Adult Education, Lifelong Learning, Educational Leadership, Instructional Design, Health Professions Education, or a closely related field
Demonstrated commitment to excellence in online teaching, including the use of inclusive pedagogies and adult learning principles
Experience teaching adult learners in higher education settings, particularly in asynchronous or hybrid online formats
Familiarity with Canvas (Penn State's Learning Management System) or similar online platforms
Ability to engage with students multiple times per week, providing timely feedback, facilitating online discussions, and supporting learner success
Strong communication and organizational skills, with a collaborative and student-centered approach
Preferred
Experience or interest in teaching courses for master's students related to health care education, adult learning, adult development, instructional design, or distance education is highly desirable
