Walmart Canada is a technology-driven organization dedicated to advancing the use of Generative AI and machine learning. They are seeking a Staff Software Engineer to collaborate with teams to design and implement innovative GenAI solutions and develop scalable user experiences.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with software engineers and cross-functional teams to design and implement innovative GenAI solutions

Develop scalable, personalized user experiences using modern AI/ML technology stacks and software architectures

Partner with product and business leaders to align AI/ML solutions with organizational goals and integrate them into existing systems

Manage software development dependencies and streamline processes for efficient product delivery

Proactively identify and mitigate risks throughout the software development lifecycle

Implement robust testing frameworks and maintenance protocols to ensure reliability and performance

Leverage or build cloud-based architectures and platforms to deliver optimized ML models at scale

Apply MLOps best practices, including CI/CD, test automation, automated deployments, model retraining, and monitoring

Stay current with the latest advancements in machine learning and generative AI, fostering a culture of continuous learning

Required

Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 4 years' experience in software engineering or related area

6 years' experience in software engineering or related area

Deep expertise in Python and familiarity with JavaScript

Strong leadership in code quality, including code reviews and setting high standards for the team

Experience in architectural design and leading technical projects

Extensive knowledge of building scalable, distributed end-to-end machine learning pipelines and services

Proficiency in API design, distributed systems, cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, GCP, AWS), Kubernetes, Kafka, Airflow, and SQL

Solid foundation in software engineering and API design fundamentals, with the ability to write production-quality code

Intellectual curiosity and a passion for generative AI, MLOps, and cloud technologies

Preferred

Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related area and 2 years' experience in software engineering or related area

Background in creating inclusive digital experiences, demonstrating knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly

Knowledge of accessibility best practices
