Responsibilities

Assists Bureau of Prisons (BOP) Chief of Health Information with formal Bureau Electronic Medical Record (BEMR) project management to include detailed planning for BOP-wide implementation, database maintenance and management of access to BEMR
Responsible for assisting with design, modification, and enhancement of BEMR programs
Participates in clinical advisory groups to provide broad-based input into the design of clinical information system (template notes, clinical reminders, etc.) and engage patient care providers with varying roles including physicians, mid-level practitioners, nurses, pharmacists, dentist, ancillary department personnel, and medical records professionals to contribute to the development and use of the clinical information system
Analyzes all areas of BEMR and ensure the integrity of the stored data through identification of problem areas and recommending corrective solutions or modifications to improve program efficiency
Along with all other correctional institution employees, incumbent is charged with responsibility for maintaining security of the institution. The staff correctional responsibilities precede all others required by this position and are performed on a regular and recurring basis

Required

U.S. Citizenship is Required
Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study - hospital administration, public health administration, or related fields such as business or public administration with course work in health care administration
Progressively responsible analytical or administrative, or clinical management or supervisory experience in the health care field
Successful completion of an agency-sponsored on-the-job training program may be substituted for qualifying experience, provided it included a formal individualized training plan
Experience assisting in the development, implementation and maintenance of an Electronic Medical Records system
Experience in monitoring standards to ensure Electronic Medical Records system remain compliant with Consolidated Health Informatics (CHI), E-gov Implementation and Alignment Plan and other government-endorsed standard setting organizations
Experience in developing, coordinating and facilitating Electronic Medical Records training and education for a wide variety of health care providers
The applicant must have experience in health care principles, theories, concepts, project management and clinical practice
