Technology & Innovation (T&I) Engineer II /Scientist II

The role involves leading projects, providing technical support, and collaborating with various departments to ensure successful product launches.

Responsibilities
Comply with and support all EH&S activities while operating in a safe, honest and ethical manner
Support project activities through performing development and manufacturing processes and testing
Lead several mid-size projects simultaneously; in-plant focused but may at times support cross-plant opportunities
Help identify potential projects for both cost savings and new product opportunities
Provide technical support to internal and external customers
Report on activities’ progress and status, including detailed writeups of completed projects
Support other projects as required in accordance with T&I Group standards
Develop an operational understanding of the company and our products
Support cost analysis for new products
Run projects according to the Stage Gate process utilizing Lean Six Sigma tools as applicable
Operate under direction of both supervisor and tenured engineer/scientist
Monitor and measure focus and keep within established goals and objectives
Develop SOPs, Work Instructions, Process Flow Diagrams, FMEAs, and Control Plans for new products and processes in cooperation with Operations/Quality
Ensure that safety and process hazard reviews are conducted for new or modified equipment and procedures
Conduct customer visits as needed
Provide mentorship and coaching to junior engineers
Support the evaluation of new equipment and processes
Protect and document IP; support through patent filing process as applicable
Qualification
Required
Bachelors' degree in engineering, physical sciences or materials science field (e.g. Metallurgy, Ceramics or Materials Science)
3-5 years of technical experience, including internships, co-ops, and graduate school
Demonstrates specific areas of expertise
Demonstrated ability to successfully participate on and lead technical and/or design projects and teams
Good written and presentation skills
Preferred
Advanced Degree (MS or PhD) in engineering, physical sciences or materials science field (e.g. Metallurgy, Ceramics or Materials Science)
Lean Six Sigma Experience and Certification (Green Belt or Better)
Experience working with Laser Powder Bed Fusion, metal additive manufacturing, or powder metallurgy
Experience including material analysis (Metallography, SEM, EDS, XRD, XRF, TEM…)
Experience including CAD Modeling, simulation, or data acquisition and analysis
Experience including product development, process development, or experimental design
Proven technical writing and presentation skills (Publications and/or Proceedings)
