Staff Psychologist - Intensive Community Mental Health Recovery Services
Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center is seeking a Staff Psychologist to join their Intensive Community Mental Health Recovery Services program. The role involves providing independent psychological services to veterans, including case management and therapy for those experiencing serious mental illness.

Responsibilities
Provides independent services to Veterans in their homes and other community-based locations
Functions as both case manager and therapist, providing services to Veterans experiencing serious mental illness and their families
Provides high-intensity care, crisis prevention and management, and flexibility in a community-oriented setting
Provides a comprehensive range of psycho-diagnostic services, including assessments and the application of the most appropriate psychotherapeutic techniques to ensure quality care
Engages in direct patient contact, which includes case management, psychological assessments, treatment planning, individual psychotherapy/assessment sessions, family/caregiver stress therapy sessions, and other evidence-based treatments for serious mental illness
Conducts evaluations for patients with a variety of psychological disorders
Supervises trainees in the provision of direct clinical care
Consults with medical center staff on a wide range of patient care issues
Utilizes psychotherapeutic techniques, assesses and treats patients, striving to help them collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to reduce, eliminate, or better manage mental illness

English Language Proficiency Requirement: Psychologists must be proficient in spoken and written English in accordance with VA Handbook 5005, Part II, Chapter 3, section A, paragraph 3j
You must have a doctoral degree in psychology from a graduate program in psychology accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA), the Psychological Clinical Science Accreditation System (PCSAS), or the Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) at the time the program was completed
You must have successfully completed a professional psychology internship training program that was accredited by APA or CPA at the time the program was completed and that is consistent with the assignment for which the applicant is to be employed
Candidates must hold a full, current, and unrestricted license to practice psychology at the doctoral level in a State, Territory or Commonwealth of the United States, or the District of Columbia
Experience is only creditable if it is post-doctoral degree experience as a professional psychologist directly related to the duties performed
Preferred
Special expertise in Serious Mental Illness, board certification in Clinical Psychology, or eligibility for board certification in this practice area is strongly preferred
