Senior Engineer, Repair Innovation

Responsibilities
Fosters a collaborative environment with the engineering and operations teams. Provides mentorship and technical guidance through project phases
Provides training and support to engineering and operations staff on repair techniques, regulatory requirements, and best practices
Leads engineering activities to ensure timely and accurate completion of repair and modification projects in advance of maintenance and overhaul activities
Plans, reviews, and prioritizes engineering tasks to meet customer timelines, regulatory standards, and budgetary constraints
Oversees R&D projects focused on innovative repair processes and component enhancements, managing from concept through implementation, with the goals of expanding revenue, reducing costs, and eliminating waste
Conducts feasibility studies, risk assessments, business cases, and performance evaluations of new designs and repair concepts
Leads the facility Capability Development process and identifies and develops new repair capabilities to expand service offerings, leveraging the latest industry advancements and technologies
Develops and substantiates complex repair solutions aligned with FAA, OEM, customer, and ATS Quality standards
Analyzes and substantiates complex repair and modification designs using industry-standard practices and adheres to customer, OEM, and other technical data
Creates, reviews, and approves engineering designs, repair instructions, and technical documentation using CAD software
Develops and approves engineering documents and CAD drawings within authorized signatory level, ensuring they meet compliance and accuracy standards
Ensures strict adherence to FAA, EASA, and other regulatory requirements in all engineering documents, drawings, and designs
Works closely with contracted and internal DERs and other engineering resources to develop and certify repair designs, supporting FAA 8110-3 approvals
Produces and reviews technical investigations, repair instructions, and written accomplishment instructions for component repairs or modifications for new products and services
Develops work statements and hour estimates to support project proposals, aligning with strategic business objectives
Represents the engineering function in interactions with customers, OEMs, and regulatory authorities, presenting value-based repair solutions and resolving technical issues
Leads the facility response to support Airworthiness Directives and Service Bulletin implementation efforts from a commercial capture perspective
Co-leads the facility Cost War Room process and collaborates with cross-functional teams, including Operations, Quality, and Supply Chain, to optimize repair processes, reduce material and labor costs, and reduce turnaround time (TAT). Manages follow-on actions from Cost War Room meetings to completion, including PMA, DER, and other cost or lead-time saving opportunities
Provides on-call support and works some alternative shifts to meet project demands
Performs other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Master's degree in related field of Engineering, with five (5) or more years of relevant aerospace experience preferred; or Bachelor's degree in related field of Engineering, with eight (8) or more years of relevant aerospace experience, and with a Professional Engineer (PE) license required
OEM/MRO component repair/design experience required, including component repair development, FAA certification, repair generation, DER coordination, and regulatory compliance
