Responsibilities
Designs, develops, and maintains a robust, state-of-the-art digital workplace services system for the University
Collaborates with cross-functional teams to evaluate business requirements, design digital workplace solutions, and oversee the implementation and maintenance of digital workplace systems and tools
Conceptualizes digital workplace standards, guidelines, cutting-edge practices, and approved digital workplace techniques and approaches
Acts as a visionary for the University's digital workplace vision and goals
Implements the vision of top management to establish an IT conceptual architecture that is time-independent, allowing for the phased implementation of specific technologies over time with the ability to smoothly transition through technology changes
Demonstrates a keen awareness of departmental or University-wide needs and long-term goals, researches and prototypes emerging technologies and approaches, and works on issues that impact project success or address future concepts, products, or technologies
Comprehends and coordinates with university initiatives when appropriate, as well as adhering to various IT technology standards, best practices, and strategies for infrastructure growth
Serves as a consultant to related management efforts
Positively impacts UCSF’s operations and culture by ensuring UCSF’s IT digital workplace communications services are integrated and effective in service of the university’s academic mission
Advances the University’s mission by delivering exceptional information technology services comprehensively and consistently across faculty, staff, and students
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree, or equivalent combination of experience/training, in one or more of the following fields: computer science, computer information systems, information technology, etc
9 to 11+ years' experience in one or more of the following fields: information technology, digital workplace services, Audio Visual services, software engineering, etc
Certifications: Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) or Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) or equivalent
AVIXA Certified Technology Specialist or equivalent
Demonstrated ability to translate business needs into long-term architecture solutions
Expertise relating to the design and development of software across the organization
In-depth understanding of digital workplace systems and infrastructure, and related network protocols, hardware and software, and procedures
Experience in architecting scalable, diverse, and complex networks
Expert understanding of server architecture, system administration, and security
Experience working with a software development lifecycle (SDLC) model
Ability to collaborate across a large, diverse organization and effectively communicate or negotiate with others
Experience working in a project-based environment, including the ability to report on project status, evaluate project risks, and escalate project issues
Experience with risk analysis frameworks
Knowledge of information management
Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate technical information to technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the University
Able to establish and advance positive working relationships and a strong rapport with a diverse community of colleagues including team members, stakeholders, and customers
Self-motivated and works independently and as part of a team
Able to learn effectively and meet deadlines
Advanced problem-solving skills; ability to uncover root of difficult problems and scope solutions based on knowledge of available resources and timelines as well as awareness of vision and strategy
Seeks information from multiple and diverse sources to inform solutions
Demonstrated ability to make decisions with integrity
Able to think creatively and introduce innovations such as the incorporation of new technologies or processes
Thrives in an ever-changing, fast-paced environment
Preferred
Master's degree in one or more of the following fields: computer science, computer information systems, information technology, etc
Ability to create presentation materials, generate reports, and present to appropriate stakeholders, including leadership
Ability to explain advanced concepts to engineers, peers, and leadership
