Responsibilities

Actively designing, expanding and continuously advancing the future of our Marriott Associate Design System (MADS)

Supporting hands-on efforts, overseeing governance processes, and ensuring that the design system enhances the associate experience across our business

Partnering closely with the Director of Associate Experience and Engineering colleagues in driving harmony and connection between products

Producing technical documentation, leveraging Figma’s advanced technical features, and providing guidance to both designers and developer consumers of the design system

Managing and facilitating office hours for feedback and following procedures to propose new elements when necessary

Championing appropriate patterns, components, and styles during user experience design reviews and workshops

Producing sketches, wireframes, personas, journey maps, flows, designs, motion specs, prototypes and/or presentations as needed to communicate experience design and interaction considerations

Providing subject matter expertise on key functional systems to help shepherd strategic initiatives from idea to feasible implementation

Producing both innovative high-level design concepts/strategy visualizations as well as development-ready designs with specifications

Ensuring a quality experience on live digital products by participating in the user acceptance testing process

Keeping skills up-to-date on industry trends and applying new knowledge to job, identifying strategic opportunities for competitive advantages through those findings

Clearly presenting your work citing industry best practices, qualitative and quantitative data to support your decisions

Collaborating with a variety of user experience disciplines within the team (UX, UI, Information Architecture, Design System/Standards, User Research, Copywriting) to advance your work

Delivering measures, and improving designs based on quantitative and qualitative feedback using various user research methodologies

Providing accurate estimates as to needed time to complete work to feed project plans (and therefore personal deadlines)

Meeting deadlines once agreed upon

Reporting impediments to completing work and meeting deadlines

Providing regular status updates to manager

Successfully managing multiple assignments at once

Accepting critique and critiquing work of others in a helpful and professional manner

Communicating in a timely and appropriate manner with teammates

Developing relationships with members of other teams, and leveraging those relationships to answer questions

Presenting work with clarity and confidence; explaining complex matters so that others can understand them

Performing other reasonable duties as assigned by manager

Required

5+ years of relevant experience in UX/UI or digital product design with proven design system expertise

4-year undergraduate degree, with bachelor's degree, or equivalent experience in relevant discipline

Experience in multiple of the following user experience disciplines: user experience (UX), interaction design, and visual design

Experience with major, large-scale global digital apps, web sites, or other digital products

Proven experience with design system is defining and deploying consistent, reusable componentry and patterns across various product portfolio

Well versed in industry best practices for design system documentation and governance process

High expertise in design tools (Figma, tokens-based workflows, documentation platforms like Storybook/Zeroheight) and design-to-code handoff pipelines

Proven experience delivering scalable components and UI patterns across platforms (desktop, mobile web, app, etc.)

Preferred

Experience with design systems for enterprise or customer-facing products

Champion design system governance while balancing a visual design and engineering considerations

Promote system-mindset and design system best practices drawn from a variety of disciplines (within and beyond hospitality)

Can balance user, business, and technical needs?

Collaborate with designer and developers to ensure consistency across features and platforms while meeting platform-specific needs

Communicate through compelling visuals and deliverables

Demonstrate self-confidence, energy, and enthusiasm in leading and influencing teams

Showcase Strong Presentation, Negotiation, And Persuasion Skills

Thrive in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to simultaneously manage multiple tasks

You consider yourself a Figma ninja and are super enthusiastic about the latest Figma releases and trends

Expertise in large-scale global digital entities or other digital products within Hospitality/Travel industry

Superior communication and interpersonal skills including discovery facilitation, presentation, and storytelling

Experience influencing partner adoption and making it easy to realize business and development impact

Experience with Agile / SAFE development methodologies
