Supervisory Telecommunication Equipment Operator

The Phoenix VA Medical Center (PVAMC) in the Health Administration Services (HAS) is recruiting for a Supervisory Telecommunications Equipment Operator. The primary purpose of this position is to oversee the support work of a general office nature and the work of the Telecommunications Equipment Operators who provide voice and data communication, and all monitoring services for PVAMC.

Responsibilities

Plans, organizes, and directs programs that encompass the support services work of appointed organizations
Gives advice, counsel, and instruction to employees on both work and administrative matters
Reviews recommendations for hiring, recommends appointments, promotions, and reassignments to unit positions
Identifies and provides for training needs
Conducts supervision over the staff to isolate, troubleshoot and diagnosis equipment problems and be able to render repairs to the equipment and identify solutions to problems encountered
Provides guidance to management on ways to manage metrics calls, operation, and improvements

Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-7 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization
You will be rated on the following Competencies for this position: Communications, Leadership, Planning and Evaluating, Telecommunications
Physical Requirements: The work is both sedentary and at times physically challenging. Some physical effort, such as standing, walking, bending, sitting or occasionally carrying items (such as records, etc.) of more than 50-pounds may be required
