Payroll and Benefits Specialist (49423)

Collins Engineers, Inc. is an ENR Top 500 Design Firm seeking a Payroll and Benefits Specialist to support HR operations. The role involves managing payroll processes, employee benefits administration, and compliance reporting while acting as a primary resource for HR inquiries.

Consulting

Responsibilities

Acts as a primary resource for both internal and external inquiries related to company policies and procedures
Supports the efficient operation of general office activities
Prepares and processes semi-monthly payroll
Ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates
Submits Personnel Action Forms (PAFs) through the HRIS (Paycom)
Assists in the administration of employee benefits
Manages and processes paperwork for state-mandated paid family and medical leave, as well as disability claims
Coordinates and oversees the annual insurance open enrollment process
Addresses employee 401(k) questions regarding enrollment, plan changes, and contribution rates
Communicates wellness initiatives
Completes employment verification requests
Prepares and submits annual federal and state compliance reports
Assigns documents and policy acknowledgements through the HRIS (Paycom)
Supervises the Cristo Rey High School internship program participant
Maintains membership in the Society of Human Resources Management (SHRM) organization

Required

Bachelor's degree in human resources related area of study
5 years of experience working with Human Resources Department preferred
Excellent Knowledge of Microsoft office products a must
Strong Understanding of HR information systems
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion

Preferred

Professional certification (e.g., PHR, SHRM-CP) a plus
Prior experience working with Human Resources KPIs a plus
