Responsibilities
Candidates should be familiar with the fundamentals of transportation planning, traffic engineering and elements of the Highway Capacity Manual level of service/delay analyses
The ideal candidate will have experience in the four step traffic assignment process, research and technical analysis, intersection level of service software (e.g., Synchro, Vistro, Traffix), and microsimulation software (e.g., SimTraffic, VisSim, TransModeler)
The candidate should also have the ability to convey technical information through report writing, including documentation of complex topics in a concise and understandable manner
Excellent written communication skills are a requirement
Flexible workplace schedules may be arranged and allow for potential hybrid in-office/remote opportunities, subject to supervisor discretion
Desired skills include familiarity with traffic operations software (e.g., Synchro, Vistro, Traffix); geographic information system (GIS) applications; research of transportation, land use, and environmental topics; spreadsheet (e.g., Excel) applications; and modern travel model software (e.g., TransCAD, Visum, Cube/Voyager)
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's or Master's degree in transportation planning, traffic engineering, urban planning, or a related field
Familiarity with the fundamentals of transportation planning
Familiarity with traffic engineering
Familiarity with elements of the Highway Capacity Manual level of service/delay analyses
Experience in the four step traffic assignment process
Experience in research and technical analysis
Experience with intersection level of service software (e.g., Synchro, Vistro, Traffix)
