EDUCATIONAL TECHNICIAN (CHILD DEVELOPMENT)

USAJOBS is seeking an Educational Technician for Child Development at Maxwell AFB. The primary purpose of this position is to provide appropriate, specialized developmental care and instruction for children in the Child Development Center, while also overseeing a designated classroom for children aged 6 months to 5 years.

Responsibilities

Designs, implements, and reviews activity plans
Observes and evaluates each child's health and development and reports on and maintains records of observations
Associated with the needs of individual children
Provides technical guidance and leadership to junior employees assigned to assist with program activities and participates in special projects

Must complete additional training requirements to include Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, First Aid, rescue breathing, and food handlers
Must satisfactorily complete a physical and keep current on all immunizations
This position has been identified as having 'regular contact with children'
A FBI fingerprint and State Criminal History Repository (SCHR) Check will be completed on any person selected for this position
Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-04, or equivalent in other pay systems
Have successfully completed four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university
Have a combination of experience as described in the job opportunity announcement and education
Knowledge of Child Development regulations, procedures, and processes
Knowledge of early child development theory, methodology, and practices relating to physical, cognitive, social, and emotional development
Knowledge of Child Development Center regulations, programs, and operations
Ability to develop creative and innovative activity and special program plans
Ability to promote and foster effective working relationships with others and to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
Ability to ensure the safety and hygiene of children through constant supervision, effective arrangement of space, and proper management of equipment
