MOTOR VEHICLE OPERATOR (FORK LIFT OPERATOR)

The Department of the Air Force is hiring for the position of Motor Vehicle Operator (Fork Lift Operator) at Kirtland AFB, NM. The primary purpose of this role is to operate various types of powered vehicles to transport cargo safely over public roads and in various traffic conditions.

Responsibilities

Drives tractor trailers and/or other vehicles typically having a GVW of more than 32,000 pounds
Operates one or more electric, LPG, or diesel powered fork lift trucks to facilitate loading and unloading duties
Drives one or more types of passenger buses which carry 16 or more passengers

Males must be registered for Selective Service, see www.sss.gov
An appropriate, valid driver's license is required for the position
Position requires the ability to discern colors, contrast, and depth
The employee may be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays
Shift work may be required
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance
Ability to work as a MOTOR VEHICLE OPERATOR (FORK LIFT OPERATOR) without more than normal supervision
Knowledge of and skill in operating one or more gasoline, diesel, or electric powered wheeled vehicles with a GVW of over 32,000 pounds such as truck tractors with semi or full trailers, heavy load in-line trucks, or interstate motor coaches
Knowledge of cargo handling and hauling and techniques for safeguarding and protecting cargo
Knowledge of traffic and safety regulations, practices, and procedures pertaining to motor vehicle and forklift operation
Knowledge of and skill in operating one or more electric, LPG, or diesel-powered forklifts
Ability to judge road/traffic conditions and read maps to determine the shortest and safest route
Ability to interpret instructions, specifications, etc. related to motor vehicle, forklift, and power take-off unit operation and preventive maintenance
Reliability and dependability to meet pickup and delivery deadlines and schedules
Skill and knowledge in operating buses capable of carrying 16 or more passengers
