Start in 2026 SpringAerospace Industries Association is seeking a driven student for a Standards Engineering Internship. The role involves assisting with the review and editing of National Aerospace Standards documents, collaborating with industry experts, and gaining practical experience in component design and development.

Responsibilities
Review approximately 5-10 standards each month using a set of criteria for the 5-year review, and present a recommendation on the status of each standard
Incorporate sustainable plating option(s) into part standards to offer the aerospace and defense industry alternative hardware finishes
Prepare standards for committee vote by updating drawing(s), researching references, and writing requirements, all while ensuring compliance with the AIA style guide
Collaborate with committee members from across industry and government to resolve comments received on the standards during voting, addressing the needs of their company and the industry at large
Maintain and update project information in AIA’s tracking database within Smartsheet
Qualification
Required
Experience with AutoCAD (or similar CAD software)
Ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external teams
Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
Demonstrated project management experience preferred
Student with Senior level standing
Majoring or minoring in Mechanical or Aerospace or related engineering degrees (BSME, BSAE)
Capable of creating and reviewing 2D and 3D CAD drawings
Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (with a particular aptitude in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel), AutoCAD LT, and SolidWorks
Excellent communication and presentation skills with audiences across the leadership spectrum
