Responsibilities

Manually underwrite Non-QM/ Non-Agency correspondent, wholesale (broker) and retail loans and ensure that loans meet product and property guidelines, established loan policies, credit limits and regulatory requirements

Analyze borrowers credit file, collateral, and capacity and ensure creditworthiness

Conduct thorough risk assessments and identify potential issues or red flags, and issue loan decisions to business partners with a sense of urgency

Clear conditions and affirm data integrity on all submissions, and escalate any concerns to Loan Officer and TPO

Achieve established production goals as assigned by leadership

Act as the subject matter expert in non-QM loans for organizations internal sales team and third-party originators

Maintain documentation of each loan file within the organizations loan operations system

Stay up to date with all guideline changes, updates and enhancements

Required

5+ years of Underwriting experience, specifically in the Non-QM space, including Bank Statement, DSCR, Fix-and-Flip, and more

Responsible for underwriting Non-QM/Non-Agency mortgage loans and for performing credit analysis to ensure compliance with both corporate and secondary market investor standards

Strong background in Non-QM Underwriting

Ability to work on loans across multiple states/time zones

Analyze borrowers credit file, collateral, and capacity and ensure creditworthiness

Conduct thorough risk assessments and identify potential issues or red flags, and issue loan decisions to business partners with a sense of urgency

Clear conditions and affirm data integrity on all submissions, and escalate any concerns to Loan Officer and TPO

4+ years of experience working in Non-QM/Non-Agency Loans as an Underwriter or equivalent with experience with P&L, Bank Statement, DSCR and 1099 programs

Wholesale / Non-Delegated Correspondent experience

Ability to work independently, with a high attention to detail and effective problem-solving / multi-tasking skills

Excellent written and oral communication skills to both customers and internal stakeholders, with a strong focus on providing a great overall experience
