PASSENGER AND BAGGAGE PROCESSOR (MVO/FLO)

The Department of the Air Force is seeking a Passenger and Baggage Processor to operate various powered vehicles within a military installation. The primary responsibilities include driving vehicles with a gross vehicle weight of over 32,000 pounds and providing passenger services in the terminal.

Responsibilities

Drives a variety of vehicles, some of which have a GVW of more than 32,000 pounds (this includes K-Loaders, step/stair trucks, passenger buses, 250 gallon water trucks, three/nine ton Hi-lift truck and various conveyors)
Operates one or more electric, LPG, or diesel powered forklift trucks which are capable of lifting loads of less than 10,000 pounds as high as 168 inches
Miscellaneous operator duties. Performs operator maintenance, such as checking fluid levels and air pressure in tires, cleaning and washing of vehicles, and performing inspection checklists to ensure safe and proper operation
Provides the full range of passenger services in the terminal. Posts information concerning flight arrivals, departures, aircraft configuration, etc

This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use

IAW DoDI 3020-42 this position has been locally or command designated as Mission Essential (ME); needed to ensure the continued operation of mission essential functions of the activity
Mission Essential personnel may be required to report for duty at normal times when the base is closed or delayed reporting, and remain on duty during phased or early release
This position has a limited area of consideration to Command (AMC) employees only
Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-5700 Transportation/Mobile Equipment Operation Group
The screen out element for this position is ability to do the work of a WG-5701 PASSENGER AND BAGGAGE PROCESSOR (MVO/FLO) without more than normal supervision
Knowledge of operating one or more gasoline, diesel, or electric powered wheeled vehicles with a GVW of over 32,000 pounds such as truck tractors with semi or full trailers, or heavy load in-line trucks
Knowledge of cargo/baggage handling and hauling and techniques for safeguarding and protecting cargo/baggage
Knowledge of traffic and safety regulations, practices, and procedures pertaining to motor vehicle and fork lift operation
Knowledge of operating one or more electric, LPG, or diesel powered forklifts typically capable of lifting less than 10,000 pounds as high as 168 inches
Ability to judge road/traffic conditions and read installation maps to determine the shortest and safest route, and meet pickup and delivery deadlines and schedules, while operating motor vehicles
Ability to judge aisles, doorways, loads and load balance, and operate controls to maneuver fork lift trucks
Ability to interpret instructions, specifications, etc. related to motor vehicle, fork lift, and power take-off unit operation and preventive maintenance
Knowledge of the full range of passenger processing for both incoming and outgoing passengers
Knowledge of travel regulations, instructions, and other guidance regarding passenger travel
Skill in communicating orally to individuals and groups
Ability to work with others in a customer service environment
Physical effort is moderate to heavy. Work requires reaching, turning, or moving hands, arms, feet, and legs to operate hand and foot controls
Associated duties require stooping, bending, and climbing
Lifts and carries objects weighing up to 40 pounds and heavier objects with assistance
Drivers work mostly outside and operate vehicles in all kinds of weather primarily on the installation
Drivers are exposed to dirt, fumes, and to the possibility of cuts, bruises, and broken bones as a result of accidents when loading and unloading the vehicle
