Senior Accountant

Phoenix Tailings is a rapidly growing clean mining and metals production startup dedicated to sustainable and economic critical metals production. They are seeking a Senior Accountant with manufacturing experience to shape their financial infrastructure and support scaling operations.

Responsibilities

Cost Accounting: Analyze manufacturing costs, establish overhead rates, track job costing for accurate product profitability. Will also oversee cost accounting on sponsored grants
Inventory Management: Oversee inventory valuation, monitor cycle counts, and manage reserves for excess or obsolete inventory
Financial Reporting: Manage journal entries, reconciliations and other close activities. Prepare and analyze financial data and provide insightful commentary to key constituents to support strategic decision-making
Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to strengthen internal controls, improve processes, and implement change initiatives, as needed to strengthen financial reporting and compliance
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with finance and operational teams, production, purchasing, and supply chain departments to ensure proper reporting
Audits: Assist with audits, tax filings, and other external reporting requirements
Growth Mindset: Support scaling financial processes and systems to meet the company’s rapid growth trajectory

Qualification

Required

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
4–7 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally within a start-up or high-growth environment
Proficiency with NetSuite ERP, or similar, is required
Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting best practices in prior roles within a manufacturing industry
Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, evolving company environment
A proactive, solution-oriented mindset with the desire to build efficient systems from the ground up
