Tax Intern - Spring 2026

Genesee & Wyoming Inc. is a growing short line railroad operator with a broad North American and UK/European footprint. The Tax Intern will support the daily functions and activities of the tax department and assist with special projects as necessary.

Responsibilities

Compliance – prepare various state and other miscellaneous tax returns to ensure compliance with local and state laws
Research – perform basic tax research on domestic tax issues, including state and local tax questions, and various other related issues
Prepare balance sheet reconciliations for tax accounts
Assist with the calculation of estimated payments
Assist in preparing book to tax differences and the calculation of state apportionment
Assist with other projects and perform other duties as assigned

Required

Effective oral and written communication skills
Proficiency in MS Word, Excel and Outlook

Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree
Must have a valid drivers license
