Data Platform Director

Responsibilities
Design and implement enterprise-level data architectures that align with business goals and cloud-first strategies
Develop and deploy data fabric/data mesh solutions for the enterprise, enabling decentralized data ownership and governance
Lead the adoption and migration to modern data platforms, including AWS, Snowflake, and Salesforce Data Cloud
Architect solutions for ingesting, processing, and analyzing EHR data, ensuring compliance with HL7 and FHIR standards
Collaborate with healthcare teams to integrate clinical data into analytics platforms
Build scalable, efficient data pipelines to ingest, process, and transform structured and unstructured data
Develop systems to extract text content from unstructured data sources (e.g., PDFs, images) and load it into structured data products like Intellicare or IRIS
Build and maintain integration frameworks connecting Salesforce with AWS services (S3, Redshift, Lambda, SQL DBs) and EHR platforms (Epic, Cerner) using FHIR / HL7 standards
Develop and maintain integrations between AWS services (S3, Redshift, Lambda, SQL DBs), Snowflake, and other enterprise systems
Drive the migration of legacy systems to cloud platforms, ensuring high availability, security, and performance
Optimize data storage and processing in AWS and Snowflake environments
Ensure solutions meet enterprise requirements for scalability, security, performance, and compliance
Maintain architecture artifacts, solution diagrams, and integration documentation
Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations, enterprise security policies, and healthcare data privacy standards
Partner with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, software engineers, and business stakeholders, to deliver data-driven solutions
Mentor and guide junior architects and engineers in best practices for data architecture and cloud technologies
Qualification
Required
US Citizenship is required for this position with ability to obtain security clearance as needed
Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. Bachelor's degree and additional years of experience in lieu of degree will be considered
15+ years of relevant experience including enterprise data architecture and delivery
Expertise in AWS (e.g., S3, Redshift, Glue, Lambda) and Snowflake
Experience in healthcare or life sciences industries with knowledge of EHR integration patterns (FHIR, HL7, Epic, Cerner) and secure healthcare data exchange
Proven experience building data pipelines and ETL/ELT workflows for structured and unstructured data
Experience with unstructured data processing, including OCR (Optical Character Recognition) for extracting text from images and PDFs
Strong understanding of data modeling, data warehousing, and database design principles
Preferred
Advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
Experience designing, developing, and deploying data fabric/data mesh solutions for the enterprise, enabling decentralized data ownership and governance
Familiarity with tools like Intellicare or IRIS from Intersystems
Familiarity with machine learning workflows and AI-driven data processing
Hands-on experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI)
Certifications in AWS, Snowflake, or Salesforce
