Engineer, US video and audio podcast
The Guardian is a global news organization that delivers fearless, independent journalism. They are seeking an experienced engineer to help launch a new video podcast aimed at the US market, focusing on recording, post-production, and managing production workflows.

Responsibilities
Work with producers to develop a workflow to record and distribute the podcast
Work with host in studio to record interviews and other elements for the podcast
Mix and master episodes to professional standards, often on tight deadlines
Score episodes when required
Manage and maintain all studio equipment including computers, cameras, recording software, and video recording hardware
Work with executive producers and producers to select tracks from music libraries. The ability to occasionally compose original scoring music is hugely valued, but not required
Work closely with executive producers and producers to guarantee the highest levels of creativity, editorial, and legal standards
Problem solve issues that come up during recording and production
Develop and run training seminars on workflow and software including Riverside, Adobe Premiere, and ProTools
Stay on top of the latest developments in production software, studio equipment, remote recording and workflow
Upload final mixed episodes to YouTube and the show’s RSS feed
Qualification
Required
At least 5 years of experience recording and mixing the highest quality audio and video programming
Experience providing structure and bringing an interview to life with scoring
Significant experience recording, editing, and mixing in ProTools
Significant experience editing and finalizing video in Adobe Premiere
Experience with Riverside and/or other remote recording software
Experience working in a fast moving newsroom or production studio under tight deadlines
An understanding that producing a near daily show that's reactive to the news will require occasional early morning or late night interviews and prep work
Understand the tone, purpose, and audience of the Guardian
Understand YouTube audiences and keep up to date with the latest developments in the video and audio podcast space
Ability to bring a diverse perspective to the role
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Comfortable producing work on tight deadline
Commitment to high journalistic standards for factual accuracy
An interest in global news and politics
Able to manage multiple projects at a time
Ability to meet high standards, but work with kindness and respect while doing so
Preferred
Experience designing and building out podcast studios for video
The ability to occasionally compose original scoring music is hugely valued, but not required
