Responsibilities

Provide direct care to developmentally disabled individuals
Care for adults who are medically fragile and have significant intellectual, developmental & physical disabilities
Complete training through the Staff Development department
Lift and bend frequently as required by the position

Qualification

Nurse Aide I certificationNurse Aide II certificationEMT certificationCPR certificationBehavior management techniquesProfessional demeanorSupportive counseling techniquesEffective communicationTeamwork

Required

In good standing with the NC Health Care Personnel Registry
High School or General Educational Development diploma; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Listing as a Nurse Aide I by the North Carolina Division of Health Service Regulation
As applicable, listing as a Nurse Aide II by the North Carolina Board of Nursing
As applicable, North Carolina Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification
Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds on a regular basis (6-8 times daily) and be able to stoop, bend, walk, run short distances (50 yards) and climb stairs without limitations of a permanent nature

Preferred

A valid Driver's License
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with individuals, staff and others
Demonstrated ability to maintain a professional and even-tempered demeanor and work relationships
Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as a member of the team
Ability to learn behavior management and supportive counseling techniques
Demonstrated ability to communicate observations and recommendations effectively in written and verbal form

Benefits

A Sign-on bonus of $2,000 may be offered to the successful applicant(s) of this posting, contingent on the 2025-2026 Budget Approval.
Eligibility for Sign-on Bonus
Those who are eligible and working less than 40 hours a week will receive a prorated rate.
