They are seeking a CPA to join their dynamic Tax Services team, where the role involves overseeing complex tax preparation work and providing guidance to junior staff while ensuring compliance and accuracy in tax planning.

Responsibilities

Prepare and review complex individual, corporate, partnership, and trust tax returns

Manage payroll tax compliance, including preparation of quarterly 941s, 940s, and TWC filings

Prepare and file sales and use tax returns

Draft and file tax extensions and ensure all client filings are accurate and timely

Conduct in-depth research on tax laws, regulations, and special tax issues (e.g., ERC qualifications)

Serve as a trusted advisor to clients by preparing and presenting detailed tax proposals and planning strategies

Provide mentorship and training support to tax team members

Maintain a high utilization rate (80%+) while ensuring quality and efficiency in all deliverables

Handle ad hoc projects and complex tax matters as assigned

Required

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent experience required

CPA, CPA Candidate, or Enrolled Agent designation

Ability to be in office Full-time - Whitefish, MT

Must possess an active PTIN (Preparer Tax Identification Number)

Minimum of 7 years of experience in tax preparation, including complex returns and multi-entity structures

Strong understanding of technical accounting standards including GAAP updates, accrual accounting, journal entries, account reconciliation, and double entry bookkeeping

Strong financial analysis skills and thorough knowledge of accounting procedures

Strong technical knowledge of federal, state, and local tax regulations and filing requirements

Proven expertise in tax research and compliance, including familiarity with IRS and other regulatory platforms

Proficiency in tax software, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat

Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to advise clients at all levels

Demonstrated leadership, mentorship, and client relationship management skills

Strong business acumen and judgment, with a proactive and solution-oriented approach
