Aircraft Engine Repairer

Naval Air Warfare Center Training Systems Division (NAWCTSD) is seeking an Aircraft Engine Repairer to work in the Production Lines Division. The primary purpose of this role is to perform maintenance and repair of gas turbine engines, systems, components, and assemblies, with responsibilities including disassembly and assembly operations under technical supervision.

Responsibilities

Disassembles aircraft engines, engine assemblies, and accessories, removing tubing, fuel controls, pumps, etc., from engines and breaks down major assemblies in proper sequence
Determines if disassembled parts are reusable, recognizing scratches, burns, deformation, etc
Under technical surveillance of a journey-level mechanic, assembles gas turbines engines, various aircraft and gas turbine engine sub-assemblies, and parts/components
Examines, evaluates, reconditions and assembles sub-assemblies of limited variety such as assembling compressors or building up "hot"sections
Checks disassembled parts for defects such as warping, under or overweight or for continuity of wiring harnesses
The incumbent visual, dimensional, and tactile checks of individual parts for foreign object damage, stress fractures, excessive wear, etc
The incumbent determines the condition of all component parts in accordance with technical specification and reconditions or replaces parts as necessary
May be called on to perform other tasks as assigned
May be required to review and/or certify the work performed by another for which he/she is certified to perform
May be required to train/mentor lower grade employees

Required

0-3 Years of experience in aircraft engine repair or related field
Ability to disassemble aircraft engines, engine assemblies, and accessories
Ability to determine if disassembled parts are reusable
Ability to assemble gas turbine engines and various aircraft sub-assemblies
Ability to examine, evaluate, recondition, and assemble sub-assemblies
Ability to check disassembled parts for defects
Ability to perform visual, dimensional, and tactile checks of individual parts
Ability to determine the condition of all component parts according to technical specifications
Ability to perform other tasks as assigned
Ability to review and/or certify the work performed by others
Ability to train/mentor lower grade employees
