Facilities Crane & Conveyance System Engineer II

Blue Origin is working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems. They are seeking a skilled Crane and Conveyance System Engineer to design, develop, and maintain crane systems while collaborating with cross-functional teams and ensuring compliance with industry standards.

Responsibilities

Design and develop crane systems and their control systems in compliance with industry standards and regulations
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate crane systems into overall project plans
Perform feasibility studies and risk assessments for new crane system designs
Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to crane and conveyance systems
Prepare detailed documentation, including design specifications, system diagrams, and maintenance manuals
Conduct training sessions for operations and maintenance staff on new crane systems
Stay current with industry trends and advancements in crane technology
Develop and test control software for PC, Allen Bradley and Siemens PLC based systems for overhead cranes, metal rolling, strip processing and rod/bar mill applications

Required

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
Relevant experience can replace the need for degree or licensure
Minimum of 7 years of experience
3 years' experience in designing, commissioning, and maintaining industrial drive and automation systems for heavy industry applications
1 year of experience with programmable logic controllers
Strong knowledge of PLC programming and SCADA systems
Experience with 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD)
Familiarity with safety standards and regulations pertaining to crane systems (e.g., OSHA, ANSI)
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred

Master's degree in Engineering
Certification in crane operation or maintenance
Experience with project management methodologies
