Maintenance Technician – Level 3

Panasonic Energy Corporation of North America is expanding its operations to De Soto, Kansas, where they are building the world’s largest lithium-ion battery factory. The Maintenance Technician – Level 3 will be responsible for maintaining production equipment and machinery, performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and supporting a Total Preventative Maintenance environment.

Responsibilities

Works closely with Maintenance team members and the Operations team members to maintain PECNA equipment
Checks settings, gauge readings, Human Machine Interface (HMI), and sensors regularly to keep machines operating at appropriate specifications
Perform regular preventative maintenance on machines according to documented requirements such as cleaning and lubricating shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts
Completes visual and audible observations to detect any machine abnormalities, and to address and create scheduled repairs
Tightens bolts and inspects belts and chains for wear and tear for proper tensions
Changes belts, filters, and other replaceable parts as needed
Greases and or lubricates fittings, joints, unions, and motors as required
Performs complex cleaning activities on dismantled equipment and reassembles per OEM specifications
Basic troubleshooting on equipment and machinery to replace worn or broken parts as needed
Examines the form, texture, and dimensions of the machine parts to detect wear and/or imperfections
Performs electrical or mechanical troubleshooting to determine problems in non-functioning electro-mechanical equipment
Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters, measuring devices, and material handling equipment while performing duties
Identifies faulty operations and defective material and escalates concerns to supervisors
Suggests, develops, and implements machine modifications and processes to ensure machine and production efficiencies
Maintains accurate records of completed work on the equipment and machines, including After Action Reviews (AAR)
Ensures that inventory of spare parts is accurately kept
Works according to Standard Work and helps develop Standard Work where none has been developed
Follows all Maintenance Process Instructions (MPI) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
Performs Basic troubleshooting and diagnosis of machines
Conducts initial multimeter readings of motors and reading PLC Ladder logic
Follows all safety procedures and conforms to Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) procedures
Identifies the cause of unexpected breakdowns of machines
Actively works toward the elimination of unexpected breakdowns
Cleans, organizes, inventories, stocks, and otherwise maintains the shop areas, productions areas, parts, tools, and supplies maintaining a 6S environment
Prepare written documentation in a clear and concise manner
Performs additional tasks as assigned
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve issues in a timely manner
Support proper implementation of processes and procedures to ensure compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and customer specifications
Operate and maintain tools and equipment within functional area
Ability to work all scheduled shift hours
Ability to train others at same or lower level within functional area

Required

High School Diploma, General Education Development (GED), or 2 years of prior experience in functional area
Minimum of 3 years of experience as a maintenance technician
Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, flexible environment and take the initiative to learn new tools and concepts quickly
Proficiency in the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking
Basic mathematical skills with the ability to perform standard calculations
Successfully pass a Ramsay testing assessment
Ability to quickly learn the organization's production processes
Intuitive, adaptable, creative, and collaborative with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
A team-oriented mindset with openness to learning and accepting guidance from others

Preferred

4 + years of experience
Journeyman Certification
PECNA approved Technical Training
