Product and Business Manager, Wire & Cable

Responsibilities
Manages existing accounts to ensure the customer is receiving world-class service by working closely with Inside Sales
Identifies, qualifies, and develops new or unexplored opportunities within existing and new customers through appropriate propositions and ethical sales methods to optimize business growth. Develops revenue projections for projects and customer potential
Coordinates and prioritizes new product development by working closely with Director of Product Management, R&D, Engineering, manufacturing, customer service and external partners in the development of new products as dictated by customers and/or through market trend studies
By working closely with Director of Product Management, determines specifications for both raw materials and finished products. Also works closely with Supply Chain to identify and vet partner suppliers
Develops pricing strategies and product families for the Wire & Cable product portfolio. Also develops pricing quotes by working closely with FP&A Director. Manage product mix while effectively negotiating pricing and margins in accordance with established goals. Makes bid/no bid decisions based on business requirements
Monitors and manages response to global market and trade dynamics (import/export) in conjunction with trade compliance manager and third-party consultants and legal counsel
Proactively works with customers to obtain a thorough understanding of the customer’s strategic objectives, required return on investments and successfully partners with customers as a solution provider
Develops and implements proposal strategies, manages proposal development, organizes team meetings with customers and negotiates and closes contracts
Plans and develops strategic and tactical sales activities to establish appropriate levels of contact with current and prospective customers to achieve agreed business goals and market development strategy
Acts on behalf of the customer as the internal liaison to ensure quality of service, customer satisfaction, securing profitable and sustainable relationships
Participates in establishing annual sales objectives through the development of accurate forecasting for assigned market, projecting expected sales volume for existing and new products/customers while making and communicating adjustments as required. Works with internal partners to adjust forecast on a monthly basis using the S&OP process
Monitors and prepares analyses on market and competitor activities and provides relevant reports and information. Manages product marketing by developing overall plans, working with external partners to promote products, and developing market collateral materials
Prepares presentations for external and internal meetings necessary to perform duties and aid in business development
Utilizes established computer system to document customer and prospect activities and ensure timely and accurate update of all relevant information held in the system
Conduct meetings with customers on a regular basis to maintain relationships, review forecasts, and discuss relevant business dynamics
Participate in trade associations as a representative to meet new potential customers and current customers, learn about the industrial markets and stay abreast of new potential products. Attend trade shows, assist with booths, help with marketing and promotion activities
Assist in resolving customer complaints by investigating the problems, reporting to the quality manager, and collecting samples
Other related duties as deemed appropriate
Contributes to a team effort by proactively assisting internal contacts
Attending training programs to develop relevant knowledge, techniques, and skills
Controls costs by proactively controlling expenses and elimination of waste
Keeps management informed by submitting activity reports regarding product, customer, market, and sales analyses
Maintains and protects proprietary information as it relates to the company and customers
Maintains the company reputation by complying with governmental regulations
Adheres to all health and safety policies
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in business (or other relevant field) or equivalent in related business experience
Minimum of five years' sales experience in a manufacturing environment with proven, quantifiable success managing major accounts and large contracts
The ideal candidate will have experience in the manufacture or support of fiber optic, medium or high voltage cables, or related products
Working knowledge of wire and cable materials, processes, product design, and testing is critical
Capable of direct problem solving with ability to generate ideas and solutions
Ability to cope with competing demands and prioritization of projects and tasks
Possess exceptional people skills; adept at negotiating under stressful or adverse conditions through utilization of a positive and determined approach
Proven ability to work with general direction receiving guidance in terms of broad goals and objectives, analytical thinking, project management and problem solving
Demonstrated effective selling techniques, product, and marketing concepts
Proficient computer literacy in Microsoft Office Applications
Frequent overnight travel by various modes of transportation including airline, train, and automobile as deemed appropriate
Able to work extended hours as required
Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
Continuous contact with other people requires communication via face-to-face, orally by telephone, and various written methodologies
Preferred
Experience in managing pricing, product margins, and product line profitability is preferred
Preferably has experience with Oracle ERP system and Salesforce or similar CRM system
