Structural Engineer 7-Transportation
CDM Smith is a company that provides engineering solutions and is seeking a Structural Engineer to lead teams in providing structural analyses, design, and construction plans for bridges. The role involves collaborating with clients and government officials, mentoring junior staff, and ensuring compliance with design criteria and regulations.

Responsibilities
Lead teams to provide structural analyses, design, and final bridge construction plans for prestressed concrete, reinforced concrete, and structural steel bridges according to the latest SCDOT and AASHTO design criteria
Direct the development of models, drawings, and specifications
Arrange/layout structural systems and elements for strength, stability, constructability, and construction economy
Review design calculations and quantity calculations for compliance with SCDOT design criteria
Coordinate bridge design with other engineering disciplines
Ensure that firm policies and practices are followed on all designs
Collaborate with sales staff to create proposals in response to current and potential client requests for proposal (RFPs)
Review draft proposals for adherence to firm, industry, state, local and federal regulations and best practices
Meet with current and potential future clients to review their current and future design needs
Attend conferences, symposia, etc. to improve the visibility of the firm's products and services in collaboration with applicable sales staff
Collaborate with clients and government officials to clarify technical questions and provide updates to project management as necessary
Perform other duties as required
Provide technical guidance and training to more junior staff
Mentor more junior staff and develop them for future growth within the discipline and firm
Supervise the work of junior engineers on project work
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Civil, Architectural or Structural Engineering or related discipline
Professional engineering (PE) license
12 years of related experience
Extensive experience with producing final bridge construction plans for SCDOT
Seismic design experience
Ability to arrange/layout structural systems and elements for strength, stability, constructability, and construction economy
Ability to review design calculations and quantity calculations for compliance with SCDOT design criteria
Ability to coordinate bridge design with other engineering disciplines
Ability to ensure that firm policies and practices are followed on all designs
Ability to collaborate with sales staff to create proposals in response to current and potential client requests for proposal (RFPs)
Ability to review draft proposals for adherence to firm, industry, state, local and federal regulations and best practices

Preferred
Master's degree in Civil Engineering/Structural
