Responsibilities
Database engineering and administration: Design, build, configure, and maintain Oracle 19c databases in production and non-production environments
High availability and disaster recovery: Implement, configure, and manage Oracle Data Guard to ensure high availability, data protection, and disaster recovery. Perform failover and switchover tests
Performance tuning: Conduct advanced performance analysis and tuning of Oracle databases and complex PL/SQL code to optimize query execution and system efficiency
Database scripting and automation: Develop, maintain, and execute PL/SQL scripts, stored procedures, functions, and packages to support application development and automate database management tasks
Backup and recovery: Design, implement, and manage robust backup and recovery strategies using Oracle RMAN to ensure data integrity and minimize downtime. Knowledge of Dell Networker/DPS very desirable
Security and compliance: Implement and enforce database security best practices, including access control, auditing, and compliance with company policies and federal regulatory standards (NERC-CIP)
Mentorship and collaboration: Work closely with application development, IT operations, and other cross-functional teams. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior database administrators
Troubleshooting and support: Provide advanced troubleshooting and resolution of database-related incidents. Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation as required
Attends business meetings, and collaborates with ISO colleagues to develop "best practices" policies and procedures, and to identify and resolve issues to help create a flexible and efficient organization
Qualification
Required
A Bachelor's degree (BA, BS) or equivalent education, training or experience in Information Technology, Management of Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering or related technical field
Five (5) or more years related experience
Oracle database administration as a developer and/or administrator
Experience working in corporate information technology, including development, engineering, security or administration
Extensive systems knowledge working in a highly complex environment
Strong verbal and written communication and documentation skills
Demonstrated attention to detail
Ability to use deductive reasoning and analytical thinking with sound judgment and decision-making skills
Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
Self-starting and willing and able to work independently in a dynamic corporate organization under pressure of tight deadlines and aggressive expectations
Problem solving skills with the ability to influence others without direct authority
Ability to work effectively in a team environment as facilitator and team member
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
Preferred
Master's Degree
Oracle DBA Certification
Certifications in any other database platform
Cassandra RDBMS
Postgres RDBMS
LDAP
Oracle Transparent Application Failover
PowerShell scripting
Administration of Block and/or NFS Filesystems
Experience with NERC-CIP compliance standards
