Responsibilities
Criminal Jury Trials: Expertly manage criminal jury trials from initial investigation through verdict, including pre-trial motions, jury selection, opening statements, witness examination, and closing arguments
Domestic Violence Restraining Order Hearings: Handle final restraining order hearings in the family part, representing clients through evidence presentation, direct examination, and cross-examination
Municipal Court Cases: Represent clients in municipal court matters, including DWI/DUI allegations and other municipal violations requiring skilled advocacy
Case Strategy and Preparation: Develop comprehensive defense strategies, conduct legal research, draft motions and briefs, and prepare witnesses for testimony
Team Collaboration: Participate actively in our regular team huddles (Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays) to discuss legal issues, share case law developments, develop negotiation strategies, and refine case tactics
Client Advocacy: Serve as a fierce advocate who stands unwaveringly between clients and prosecutorial forces, protecting constitutional rights and holding the government to its burden of proof beyond a reasonable doubt
Professional Development: Engage in business development activities, network with referral sources, and contribute to the firm's growth through case generation
Qualification
Required
Minimum of 5 years of criminal defense or criminal litigation experience
New Jersey bar admission in good standing (or ability to obtain through reciprocity)
Proven ability to handle jury trials with confidence and skill from start to verdict
Demonstrated experience with domestic violence final restraining order hearings
Municipal court case experience, including DWI/DUI matters
Ability to work collaboratively with our team during morning huddles to discuss cases, share insights, and develop winning strategies
Strong advocacy skills and the determination to be a fierce protector of client rights
Comfort with on-your-feet courtroom advocacy in high-pressure trial settings
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Strong analytical and strategic thinking abilities
Ability to manage a demanding caseload while maintaining attention to detail and quality representation
Preferred
Former prosecutor experience (county or municipal level)
Certified Criminal Trial Attorney designation from the New Jersey Supreme Court
