Responsibilities

An internship with the U.S. Attorney's Office offers a unique and challenging experience for the highly motivated law student
This internship provides opportunity to work on some of the most significant, complex and visible cases being litigated today
Working with Assistant U.S. Attorneys and other staff, you will be part of a dedicated team helping to enforce federal criminal and civil laws that protect life, liberty and property of citizens
Typical assignments for law student interns involve all facets of case preparation including: researching legal issues; drafting/writing motions, responses, and various pleadings; providing trial support; interviewing witnesses; and assembling exhibits for trial
Interns are generally afforded extensive opportunities to attend trials, hearings, attorney conferences, meetings, and other legal proceedings
In addition, interns may attend depositions, meetings with agents, and accompany the attorneys to observe court proceedings
Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress

Required

You must be a United States Citizen or National
Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory pre-employment adjudication. This includes fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. Continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation
You must be registered for Selective Service, if applicable
You must meet half-time student enrollment requirements
You must submit a transcript or proof of enrollment with your application
You must be at least 16 years of age or older
You must meet all qualification requirements upon the closing date of this announcement
Acceptance of applications for this announcement will be limited to 2L and 3L law students attending an accredited school
You must have at least a 3.0 GPA
Student Interns must be United States citizens or owe permanent allegiance to the United States
You must successfully complete a background investigation to determine your suitability for Federal employment
All interns are required to sign the Participant Agreement
