HVAC Controls Engineer

The Controls Engineer will be responsible for designing, programming, and commissioning HVAC building automation systems, ensuring system functionality and providing training for operators.

Responsibilities
Configure and program HVAC building automation and control systems (direct digital controls) and create sequence of operations
Develop and test software programs to operate the system
Apply field change information for as-built drawings and software
Perform tasks as required to execute and fully complete assigned projects including: system programming, integration, system and network commissioning and project closeout
Complete hardware design and software programming using established standards
Manage and complete the loading, device verification, and commissioning of all system controllers as required
Validate complete system functionality and resolve issues with subcontractors and others to ensure proper operation
Provide accurate project as-built and commissioning documentation
Perform site-specific training for owner/operator on the total system in full or with assistance
Ensure owner/operator has been trained
Provide proper documentation and manuals for system operation
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in (mechanical) engineering or equivalent training and experience in a similar field
Knowledge of the concepts of HVAC controls in new construction, renovation/retrofit project types, components, and systems with the ability to program and commission pre and post installation, preferred
Strong communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills
Must be highly organized and possess the ability to work in a high paced environment with the ability to prioritize tasks to meet the schedules given by leadership
Demonstrated ability to operate independently and autonomously and take ownership of all tasks
Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment including but not limited to laptop, email, smartphone, and tablet
Travel to customer job sites which requires the ability to work in a variety of circumstances, including but not limited to standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing ladders, scaffolds, and high-lift equipment; working in ducts, crawl spaces, roofs, basements, above ceilings, and in outside/inside/heat/cold/day/night conditions
Must be able to maintain a professional appearance
May be required to satisfy requirements imposed by specific projects, customers, or company
Must be able to carry and move equipment and tools weighing up to 25 pounds unassisted
