Full Time Sales & Range Associate at The Powder Room

The St. Joe Company is seeking a motivated and responsible Full-Time Sales & Range Representative for The Powder Room Shooting Range and Training Center. This dual-role position combines customer service and firearm sales with hands-on support of indoor shooting range operations, ensuring legal compliance and safety supervision.

Responsibilities

Greet and assist customers with a professional and friendly attitude
Guide customers in selecting firearms, ammunition, accessories, and gear
Accurately process sales and background checks in compliance with ATF, state, and local laws (Form 4473, NICS, etc.)
Educate customers on safe handling and storage of firearms
Maintain store cleanliness, restock merchandise, and help with inventory management
Promote range memberships, training classes, and special events
Resolve customer questions and concerns with professionalism
Check customers in and out of the range; ensure completion of liability waivers and safety briefings
Enforce all range safety rules and procedures to ensure a secure environment for all patrons
Act as a Range Safety Officer (RSO) during shooting sessions (training provided if not certified)
Monitor lanes and respond promptly to any unsafe behaviors or malfunctions
Conduct basic troubleshooting or maintenance of range equipment (e.g., target carriers, ventilation checks)
Assist in cleaning and maintaining shooting lanes, target systems, and range area
Ensure PPE (eye/ear protection) is provided and used appropriately
Assist with training events, private range rentals, or group bookings as needed

Required

Must be 21 years of age or older (required for firearm handling and sales)
High school diploma or GED required; college or technical training a plus
1+ year of experience in retail, customer service, or range operations preferred
Strong working knowledge of firearms, ammunition, and firearm safety (or willing to learn)
Familiarity with ATF compliance, 4473 forms, and background check processes (or willing to learn)
Excellent communication skills and a customer-first attitude
Ability to work flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays
Able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
Must pass a background check and meet all legal qualifications to handle and sell firearms

Preferred

Previous experience working in a gun store or shooting range
Certified Range Safety Officer (RSO) or willingness to obtain certification
NRA or equivalent firearms safety training/certifications
Experience conducting firearm safety briefings or training sessions
Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus
