Responsibilities

Build new features that touch hundreds of millions of people around the world

Solve unique, large-scale, highly complex technical problems

Optimize the search quality to provide TikTok's users the best search experience

Combine your understanding of product objectives and take full advantage of modern machine learning, LLM, and information retrieval techniques to improve search quality and perception

Build the core systems and algorithms development including query understanding, result ranking, system reliability, and etc

Required

Currently pursuing an Undergraduate/Master in Software Development, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline

Able to commit to working for 12 weeks during Summer 2026

Experience with coding in Python, Java, Golang, C#, or C++

Must obtain work authorization in country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment

Preferred

Graduating December 2026 onwards with intent to return to degree-program after the completion of the internship

Demonstrated software engineering experience from previous internship, work experience, coding competitions, or publications

High levels of creativity and quick problem-solving capabilities
