Deputy Director, Marketing & Communications

Responsibilities
Develop and execute a comprehensive development strategy that aligns with Bellevue’s mission and long-term institutional goals
Identify strategic priorities and funding needs in coordination with executive leadership, department heads, and partner organizations
Establish annual fundraising goals and track progress across campaigns, partnerships, and donor programs
Build and manage relationships with foundations, corporations, community partners, and individual donors to expand philanthropic support
Develop customized engagement plans for each donor segment, ensuring consistent stewardship and communication
Lead or support major gift solicitations and funding proposals
Maintain a robust prospect pipeline and donor portfolio, tracking all stages from cultivation to stewardship
Partner with internal departments and affiliated organizations (e.g., Arts in Medicine, Children of Bellevue) to advance shared funding and programmatic initiatives
Collaborate with the Communications and Multimedia teams to develop high-impact proposals, donor materials, and impact stories
Work closely with the Director of External Affairs to connect philanthropic goals with community outreach and visibility efforts
Ensure alignment of messaging and branding across all fundraising communications
Plan and oversee donor recognition, cultivation, and fundraising events that strengthen donor engagement and Bellevue’s public profile
Oversee the creation of sponsorship packages, event materials, and donor recognition collateral
Track fundraising metrics, donor engagement data, and campaign results to evaluate effectiveness and guide decision-making
Prepare reports for leadership on fundraising performance, donor engagement, and pipeline progress
Ensure all development activities comply with NYC Health + Hospitals policies and legal standards for charitable contributions
Represent Bellevue at donor meetings, community events, and philanthropic forums
Serve as an ambassador for Bellevue’s mission and impact across all stakeholder groups
Build partnerships that elevate Bellevue’s visibility as a hospital of choice for donors and community supporters
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration, Business Management, Public Administration, Communications, Marketing, Journalism or a related discipline
Three (3) years of satisfactory experience executing communications strategies and designing and implemented integrated communications plans, two (2) years of which must have been in a responsible administrative, managerial or supervisory capacity
Satisfactory equivalent combination of training, education and/or experience. However, all candidates must have a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in disciplines, as listed in '1' above
Preferred
Proven experience in fundraising, development, or institutional advancement
Knowledge of donor engagement and cultivation practices
Strong understanding of healthcare, nonprofit, or public-sector funding environments
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a dynamic environment
