SQL Database Administrator
Creek Technologies Company is collaborating with the Department of Homeland Security to fill a SQL Database Administrator position. Responsibilities
Design, implement, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server databases (2012 and newer) to support enterprise applications and mission-critical systems
Manage database environments including installation, configuration, upgrades, and performance tuning
Develop, test, and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and indexes to ensure high performance and data integrity
Monitor database health, capacity, and performance using enterprise tools and best practices
Perform backup, recovery, and disaster recovery planning to ensure data availability and continuity
Collaborate with application developers, system engineers, and network teams to support integrated solutions
Enforce database security and access controls in alignment with organizational and Government standards
Implement database maintenance plans, data migrations, and version upgrades with minimal downtime
Troubleshoot and resolve database incidents and performance bottlenecks
Maintain documentation of database architecture, configurations, and procedures for operational readiness and audit compliance
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Systems Analysis, or a related field; advanced degree preferred, or equivalent experience
Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience designing, implementing, and maintaining databases in Microsoft SQL Server 2012 or newer
Proficiency in SQL scripting, database performance tuning, and optimization techniques
Strong understanding of data modeling, normalization, and indexing strategies
Experience with backup and recovery tools, clustering, replication, and high availability solutions
Familiarity with Windows Server environments, Active Directory integration, and PowerShell scripting
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to work independently or as part of a team
Excellent communication and documentation abilities to support cross-functional collaboration
Preferred
Advanced degree in Computer Science, System Analysis or related field PREFERRED
Certification in SQL Server or Oracle database administration
Experience with cloud database solutions (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure SQL)
Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python) for automation
