Responsibilities
Review and interpret customer drawings, BOMs, schematics, 3D models, and assembly instructions for PCB and box build assemblies
Verify mechanical and electrical integration details such as dimensions, component placement, mounting, connector clearance, wire harness routing, and enclosure fit
Identify potential manufacturability issues (DFM/DFA) and provide constructive feedback to the customer in order to improve production efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance quality
Work closely with customer engineering teams to ensure all requirements are met, while developing, implementing, and maintaining manufacturing processes for box build assemblies that integrate PCBs and other electro-mechanical components into complete enclosures
Collaborate with manufacturing teams to optimize workflows for efficiency, repeatability, and quality
Develop and implement jigs, fixtures, and assembly aids to ensure consistent builds and reduce production time
Refine mechanical features—such as mounting mechanisms and enclosure layouts—to improve assembly ease and reliability
Review, modify, and validate process activities from initial product definition to production release, focusing on efficiency, cost reduction, and quality
Document manufacturing methods and operation sequences, including line layouts, to optimize workflow and meet production demands
Support production during first-article builds, pilot runs, and engineering change implementations
Troubleshoot mechanical fit, alignment, and integration issues, implementing corrective actions as needed
Update processes promptly when changes occur to prevent recurring issues
Train staff on new and updated processes to ensure consistent execution and knowledge transfer
Ensure assemblies meet IPC, ISO, and customer-specific quality standards
Participate in in-process and final inspections to confirm compliance with approved drawings and procedures
Assist with root cause analysis for mechanical or integration defects
Ensure box build processes are consistent and repeatable to meet yield and efficiency requirements, including writing and executing product validations for both PCB and box build processes
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electro-Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent work experience
Strong ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and wiring diagrams
Proficiency with CAD viewing tools (SolidWorks, AutoCAD) for reviewing and validating designs
Knowledge of PCB integration into mechanical systems, electro-mechanical assembly processes, and enclosure/wire harness fabrication
Familiarity with IPC-610, IPC/WHMA-620, J-STD-001, ISO 9001, and AS9100 standards
Proven experience optimizing assembly processes, creating tooling/fixtures, and troubleshooting mechanical integration issues
Skilled in conveying technical requirements and manufacturability feedback to customers and production teams
Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
