Director of Indirect Procurement & Purchasing
Tide Rock is an unlevered buy out firm that acquires lower middle market companies with strong free cash flow and grows them to scale. They are seeking a strategic Director of Procurement and Purchasing to lead procurement activities, drive sourcing strategies, and maximize profitability across the portfolio.

Responsibilities
Develop and execute a comprehensive procurement strategy for both direct and indirect categories aligned with enterprise goals
Lead negotiations for large ticket items at Tide Rock and specific portfolio companies
Oversee sourcing, supplier selection, negotiation, and contract management for all procurement activities across the investment firm and portfolio companies
Design a scalable, standardized Procurement & Purchasing Playbook to guide portfolio companies in executing best-in-class procurement practices
Define core processes, tools, and KPIs to drive consistency, transparency, and accountability across diverse operating environments
Incorporate procurement maturity assessments, spend categorization frameworks, supplier evaluation criteria, and cost-saving methodologies
Deliver training and onboarding resources to portfolio company teams to support adoption and execution
Customize playbook elements as needed to address industry- or company-specific needs while maintaining alignment with the firm’s overall procurement strategy
Serve as a trusted partner to the leadership teams of portfolio companies, assessing procurement needs and providing strategic sourcing expertise
Establish procurement frameworks and governance models to ensure consistency and efficiency across diverse businesses and sectors
Identify and implement initiatives to reduce costs, improve supplier performance, and increase operational efficiency
Track and report on procurement-driven savings and their impact on EBITDA and overall enterprise value
Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure high-quality, reliable, and cost-effective sourcing
Manage procurement risk, ensuring compliance with legal, regulatory, and ethical standards
Leverage data analytics to guide procurement decisions, track KPIs, and benchmark performance across the portfolio
Utilize spend analysis tools to identify consolidation opportunities and drive purchasing synergies
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Finance, or related field
Minimum 10 years of progressive procurement and purchasing experience
Expertise in advanced negotiation techniques and tactics
Proven ability to lead both strategic initiatives and operational execution
Demonstrated success in cost savings, supplier negotiations, and cross-functional collaboration
Strong financial acumen and understanding of how procurement impacts the P&L
Exceptional communication, influencing, and stakeholder management skills
Proficiency in procurement systems and tools (e.g., SAP, Coupa, Ariba)
Preferred
MBA or equivalent
Experience in a matrixed multi-entity environment strongly preferred
