Grinder Operator

The Grinder Operator will be responsible for operating grinding machines, ensuring metal parts meet specifications, and performing quality inspections and maintenance on equipment.

Responsibilities
Grinds metal objects, such as castings, billets, machine parts, and sheet metal subassemblies to smooth or rough-finish objects to specifications
Removes excess metal, scratches, or burs by feeding metal pieces against rotating grinding wheel
Examines and measures work piece for conformance to standards
Selects and mounts abrasive wheels of different grit size to grinder to obtain specified finish on work piece
Verify correct product using job traveler
Inspect a wide variety of commercial and manufactured parts for compliance with engineering specifications and Company standards
Use inspection methodology and record all results
Interpret complex drawings, process sheets and Company standards
Work with quality and management on any manufacturing issues/defects
Monitor machine performance and perform preventative maintenance to assure continuity of production
Monitor and ensure all fluid levels are maintained on all equipment
Uses precision measuring tools specific to job
Reads part drawing with sectional views
Utilizes overhead crane to lift, position and transport part
Maintain plant standards in areas of safety, quality, delivery, cost, 5S, housekeeping, teamwork and attendance
Recommend improvements for area product and processes
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
Qualification
Required
Technical Program Certificate, or 1 + years of related experience or training; or equivalent combination of both education and experience
Prior experience grinding equipment, machines and products required
