Responsibilities

Uses prescribed methods to perform specific, and limited work assignments that are normally minor phases of a broader assignment of a higher-grade engineer
Uses computers/computer software such as information management programs, computer aided design and drafting (CADD) programs, and project tracking programs to assist higher grade engineers in solving engineering problems and facilitate the work
Assists in coordinating projects with engineers in other disciplines or with architects
Complies with health, safety, and environmental rules and procedures and performs work in a manner that enhances the safety of the work environment
Participates in design work for new construction, renovations, and improvements to real property facilities including utility systems, utilizing a professional knowledge of civil engineering
Prepares or participates in the preparation of architect and engineer (A&E) statements of work (SOW)
Keeps abreast of emerging technologies to ensure programmed development will not prematurely become obsolete
In conjunction with the primary duty of engineering design, on a less frequent basis performs work in the construction management, programming/base development, and/or operations and maintenance (O&M) functions

Minimum GPA of 2.95 on a 4.0 grading scale
Must meet suitability for Federal employment
Required to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance
Required to serve a one year probationary period
Combination of education and experience -- college-level education Degree: Engineering
Leading to a bachelor's degree in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by ABET
Include differential and integral calculus and courses in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials; (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials; and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics
Training, and/or technical experience that furnish a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying engineering
A good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering
GS-07: Completed a 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's from an accredited institution AND must have documented Superior Academic Achievement (SAA) or one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least a GS-05
GS-09: One full year (18 semester hours or the equivalent) of graduate level study, or possess a master's or higher degree in a field that provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities to do the work of this position
Grade Point Average - 2.95 or higher out of a possible 4.0 as recorded on your official transcript
Ability to analyze, interpret, and apply rules, regulations, and procedures in a variety of situations and recommend timely and economical solutions
Ability to plan and organize work; coordinate with other engineering disciplines and architects
