Director of Operations
Aerothreads is a leader in aerospace soft goods manufacturing, specializing in the design and fabrication of Multi-Layer Insulation (MLI) blankets. They are seeking a Director of Operations to lead their fabrication lab, design engineering team, and supply chain functions, driving operational excellence and ensuring high-quality product delivery.
Responsibilities
Direct end-to-end supply chain, design engineering, and manufacturing operations, ensuring alignment of materials, processes, and resources for successful product delivery
Oversee production planning, scheduling, and resource allocation to meet customer and program deadlines
Implement lean manufacturing practices and continuous improvement initiatives to reduce cycle time, improve throughput, and increase quality
Manage budgets and capital expenditures for design, supply chain, fabrication equipment, tooling, and process development
Develop and enforce standard operating procedures across design, fabrication, and supply chain operations
Lead, mentor, and grow a cross-functional team of engineers, technicians, and managers
Partner with program management and business development to forecast capacity and staffing needs
Define and implement the operations strategy for continued growth
Foster a culture of reliability, accountability, and quality across operations
Communicate professionally with customers, representing Aerothreads during technical discussions, program reviews, and issue resolution
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, or related field
10+ years of operations leadership experience in aerospace, defense, or other high-reliability manufacturing
Proven track record of managing manufacturing, design engineering, and supply chain teams
Expertise in ISO and AS9100 standards
Strong background in product management and engineering design packages, including requirements review, verification, and manufacturing documentation
Excellent organizational, leadership, and interpersonal skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, CAD software, and ERP systems
Familiarity with soft goods manufacturing (MLI blankets, textiles, films, adhesives, stitching, cleanroom processes)
Preferred
Master's degree
