Applied Research Lead - Quantum Networks
JPMorgan Chase & Co. is seeking an Applied Research Lead in Quantum Networking to join their Global Technology Applied Research team. This role involves conducting research in quantum information science and cryptography, developing quantum networking innovations, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to translate theoretical insights into practical applications.

Responsibilities
Conduct theoretical and applied research in quantum information science and quantum cryptography
Develop and analyze financial applications of quantum networks like quantum cryptography protocols
Apply hands-on expertise in semi-definite programming to quantum information and cryptographic problems
Design and analyze protocols for location verification, certified randomness, and relativistic cryptography
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to translate theoretical insights into practical applications
Publish research findings in prestigious journals such as Nature, Science, or Physical Review Letters, and present at leading conferences
Stay current with advancements in quantum computing, quantum information theory, and cryptography
Evaluate the security and efficiency of classical and quantum cryptographic schemes
Develop proof-of-concept implementations and simulations to validate theoretical models
Contribute to patent filings and intellectual property development
Qualification
Required
PhD in Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, with a focus on quantum information or cryptography theory
Minimum of 2 years of industry experience (after PhD) in quantum information science, quantum cryptography, or a closely related research area
Hands-on working knowledge of semi-definite programming, location verification, certified randomness, and relativistic cryptography
Proven publication record demonstrating hands-on expertise in semi-definite programming, location verification, certified randomness, device-independent protocols, zero-knowledge proofs, and relativistic cryptography, with publications in prestigious journals such as Nature, Science, or Physical Review Letters
Strong background in quantum mechanics, quantum information, and cryptography. Hands on knowledge about the proof techniques for finite-size security analysis like entropy accumulation theorem
Demonstrated expertise in quantum information theory
Experience with quantum key distribution, quantum-safe cryptographic algorithms, or related areas
Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, or MATLAB
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
Preferred
Experience with experimental quantum optics or quantum communication systems
Familiarity with post-quantum cryptography
Familiarity with the financial industry
Knowledge of security standards and regulatory requirements for cryptographic systems
Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
